
The biggest sports and cultural festival in the world will take place in Cologne from July 31 to August 7, 2010. Some 12,000 participants from more than 70 countries will converge for the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 and celebrate the principles of participation, inclusion and personal best. The Gay Games, unlike the Olympic Games, enable people from all walks of life to compete against each other regardless of skill level, age or physical challenge. Two highlights of the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 are sure to be the opening and closing ceremonies. On July 31 the 12,000 active participants will enter the stadium to celebrate the opening of the Gay Games VIII along with top international starts. One week later they all get together again to say goodbye to Cologne and start preparing for the next Gay Games. In addition to the 34 athletic and five cultural disciplines, there are many in-official events scheduled to take place during the week – countless parties where you can dance the night away, concerts, tours and attractions, all taking place simultaneously with the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010.
